This statue was roughed-out as it was quarried using some form of pick or axe.

Notes

There are nearly 400 unfinished statues in the quarries of Easter Island. In this example, the piece is still roughed out and retains a more geometric planes than a finished statue. This statue happens to be from the Outer quarries.
